Career and Interview Coaching
Head over to Cohort-Based Learning Communities are the Future for my thoughts around different CBCs. You can reach me at Twitter, LinkedIn, and Gmail.
Over the past two years, I started teaching classes and coaching others more formally. I understand the value of education and I want to pay it forward. I also believe that the best way to learn is to teach, so I took opportunities to mentor other people.
I have trained and coached others in a more formal capacity as a group manager in our startup and as an instructor in other programs. Throughout these years, I’ve built a training and development plan for individuals and groups and have helped others with their personal and professional goals. Let’s connect.
Wyze, as a Team Lead
In our startup at Wyze, I had the opportunity to mentor new hires and my direct reports. Over the last three years, our company grew from 20 to 180 employees, and I directly managed 12 of them. My direct reports include Product Managers, Community Managers, and UX researchers. Because we are still a very small startup, I learned to build a personalized coaching process based on their personal and career goals. For example, one of my direct reports wanted to transition from a Community Manager to Product Manager, so I created a three-month plan that allowed them to learn how to write requirements, manage stakeholders, and deliver results.
OnDeck, as a Community Fellow
At OnDeck, I got to share learnings with others as well in a more casual setting. I’ve done this by hosting community-led sessions around product management and startup mindset. I created some materials to show frameworks and principles that they can use to help them transition into these fields and invited other guests to join us during fireside chats and Q&A sessions.
Product School, as a Sr. Product Instructor
I became a three-time instructor at Product School, teaching at least 120 students over the course of two years both in-person and remote settings. There is a standard curriculum in place, but the materials weren’t specific enough so I designed exercises, crafted my own content, and also brought guest speakers over the course of the program. I became good friends with some of my students, many of whom found their next PM role after completing the course.
Luminated Career Consulting, as a Founding Member
As a founding member, I also run a non-profit for aspiring professionals who are interested in going into tech. This is a combination of one-on-one coaching as well as hosting university events, which we mostly hosted at the University of Washington. We’ve coached over 200 students in small and large settings over the course of two years with this non-profit.
Evisors, as a Career Coach
On the side, I do interview coaching for those who want to level up in the Product careers through this mentorship. This is mainly focused on people who want to prepare for job interviews, but there were also those who are still exploring their next careers.
Carnegie Mellon University, as a Guest Lecturer and Class Advisor
As a CMU alum, I’ve been a guest lecturer and product advisors to two batches of about 30 students. I’ve taught Product Management fundamentals and general career coaching. At least four of these students ended up working with me as interns and eventually transitioning to a full-time role in our startup or other companies.
I’ve coached more than 200 students and tech professionals over the past two years. I’ve also taught product management, growth, and community fundamentals to more than 120 students in formal courses and fellowships. Let’s connect.
